what kind of engine is this?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1
I am real big on engines, and working on them, so i wanted a small engine to just have to tinker with, and to fire up sometimes. im not too interested in actualy building a plane for now becuase i sink to much money into motorcross and my car. but i wanted a small engine cuz i love engines. i have a few questions about the engine i purchased on ebay. -It appears ill need some sort of battery pack to start it, what do i need to get it going? -what brand engine is it, so i can figure out the premix ratio -i will probably run my sunoco GT unleaded plus race fuel in it.will that harm anything? -what kind of adjustments are there on the carb? does it use a fuel/air screw or jets or what? -basically this is just sorta going to be a model that i want to start up everynow and then, and id like to know the basics so i dont end up blowing it up, and id like to know the make so i could rebuild it just for fun sometime. -one more question--i have a mazda rx-7 and am interested in rotaries, does anyone make a RC sized rotary engine? thanx in advance. |
RE: what kind of engine is this?
DO NOT PUT GASOLINE IN THIS ENGINE!
That engine runs on GLO fuel...Alcohol-nito-oil mix. Not sure who built that one. .061 is the cubic inches or displacement. You will need a battery to heat the gloplug...to start it. OS sells a .30 sized wankel rotory engine. [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBY72&P=7]click for rotory[/link] |
RE: what kind of engine is this?
In looking at the pictures, I see its a non throttled engine, used mostly for control line models, The bent wire out the side of the carb is the hi speed mixture adjustment.

the guy said gas engine so i figured it ran off of that. but after looking at the pics i guess i can see the glowplug.what kind of battery do i need? i can see a lil connection, are they usually universal?or are they brand specific?i dont know squat about RC stuff.

RE: what kind of engine is this?
Take this thread over to the glow engines forum and you will get all the information you need on your glow engine.

RE: what kind of engine is this?
Its a Norvell .61 ... A very small itty bitty engine without a throttle.
That engine sells new for like 50 bucks. Its an ok engine, but just sits there and screams at you.... [&o] If you like engines and just want to play with one, get something with a throttle, its a lot more fun :D |
RE: what kind of engine is this?
thanx guys. that little rotary engine is expensive, but really interesting, i want one lol. So pretty much this engine runs at a constant RPM, and the thing sticking out adjusts that RPM? Or is the RPM preset from the factory?

RE: what kind of engine is this?
I am sure there is a post somewhere, but what is the basic tuning for one of these little engines. Also, if i take the propeller off and run the engine, it wont take all the stress off and let it overrev will it?

RE: what kind of engine is this?
the needle adjusts the air fuel mixture, as the engine is leaned out the rpm increases, to peak rpm then backed off 300 rpm. this keeps it from going lean and overheating. You need the propeller to run the engine. It acts as a flywheel.

RE: what kind of engine is this?
thats what i thought, thanks again.wish i could afford to get into RC flying right now, maybe someday.[:o]
