MDS .58 muffler replacement - ideas?
Hi all,
I recently planted my MDS .58, and have ripper the ears off the muffler (the mounting bits for the screws.) Someone said that an OS muffler woudl fit. From what I've read / understand, MDS aren't relaly supported / sold / available anymore.. Skeptical.. I'm asking the lot of you.. What you would replace this with? A slimline Pitts style is a possibility... |
RE: MDS .58 muffler replacement - ideas?
I used to have several MDS engines including the 58.
Seems I remember they do not have the same spacing as the 48? I was thinking the muffler of the 58 had the hole spacing of the 68 but the small screws of the 48? But to look at the crankcase of a 58, it is the old MDS 46 if I ever saw one. Mac's Products has mufflers for the 68, and 48. With adapters they have a muffler for the 46. These engines have the same muffler hole spacing... The OS FP60 $39.95, would be a good cadidate if this is thrue? The hole spacing is 43mm and the screw holes are tapped 3.5mm according to the site... http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCB98&P=Z O.S. .60 FP & LA, .61 SF, .61 FX Thunder Tiger .61 GP, .61 Pro Irvine .61 (NEW - bolt though) Magnum .61 Pro MDS .68 FS Pro (bolt through) Mac's adapter.... MDS .46 FS (bolt-through) (old style) #6518 Enjoy, Jim |
