RUST PROBLEMS WITH OS 46AX
Has anyone experienced any internal rusting problems with the OS 46AX? I recently sent mine in for a warranty repair as after about 10 flights it sounded really bad. OS (Hobby Services) replaced the engine (They are great when it comes to service and quick to) and said that the bearings and drive shaft were rusted. I run all my engines on the rich side and use tons of After-Run-Oil on them after flying. I go through a lot of after-run-oil. I never had rusting problems except for the 46AX. Has anyone else experienced this type of problem? How else can this be prevented other than after-run-oil? Should I be doing something else with this engine to prevent this? Thanks in advance for your help.
Here is my original post to the OS forum about this problem: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3525101/tm.htm |

Hobby Services has a standard reply, you got it. They probably didn't even open it up.

Hang your airplane from the prop. This way all the fuel runs to the backplate where it wont harm anything[sm=thumbup.gif].
Nose down storage is not good as the unburn fuel from the crankcase and muffler would flood and corrode the bearings. Hard and hot running will also shorten the life of the bearings... |

Yes, I and other experanced the same thing. 46 FX bearings never rusted as fast as they do in a AX, I'll be putting in other bearings next time.
I run mine up to get it warm, than run it out of fuel and hit it with after run as fast as I can. Your not alone on this problem |

Did anything ever come out of it? Do you know by any chance what the title to that thread might have been, I would love to read it. Thanks...
