Enya .60x Engine
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
I just got this engine and do not know anything about it. It is Enya 60x. I read that it is a pretty good engine. It has darn good compression; it has been sitting unused for years now, but its all oiled. What do you think about this engine and how much is it worth? Thank you everyone. |
RE: Enya .60x Engine
On The auction site, I would say between 100.00 and 150.00 if it is mint NIB. I can't tell the condition from your photo.

RE: Enya .60x Engine
It has been used, but still in good shape. Is it reliable and good engine?
|
RE: Enya .60x Engine
Enya has a fine reputation for good running motors that last a LONG time given reasonable care.
Enjoy your motor. 'Race |
RE: Enya .60x Engine
I have seen them run and own a rear exhaust NIB. They are very good running engines timed for about 12,000 to 14,500 rpm.

RE: Enya .60x Engine
I've got one the same as that except not pumped as that one seems to be. A brilliant engine, AAC construction (not ABC) and simply never seems to wear out. I use zero nitro in mine and get easy one flick starts. According to a chart I've got covering nearly all Enya models it's rated at 1.8HP (at unspecified revs) with a rev range of 2500-17,000.

Downunder,
What size prop do you run and do you have a tuned pipe? I didn't look at the paperwork, I was going from memory, bad memory. [:);) |
RE: Enya .60x Engine
Thanks guys for the info. It is garage cleaning time so it must go on classifieds... I do not have any 60 size planes for it to have a home. [&o]

RE: Enya .60x Engine
Just tach'd mine today:
- 22 degrees celsius and low humidity, - 13700 RPM (slightly rich), - Ishipla 11" x 7.33" wide blade prop, - 0% nitro x 15% Synth x 5% Castor. I haven't any use for mine either ... so I've just put it on **** (Aust). |

I just paid $215.00 for this new one, they were pricey back then weren't they?

RE: Enya .60x Engine
Dave,
Does that engine have any pinch at the top or does it turn over smooth and silky without a plug? |
RE: Enya .60x Engine
I'll check it out, I haven't run it yet. I bought it on Sept. 27, 2005, that's a long time to have an engine and not run it.
|
RE: Enya .60x Engine
Dave,
You don't have to run it, just turn it over without the glow plug installed to feel for the pinch. |

Brian, it has no pinch at all, and rolls over as smooth as my Fitzpatricks, they are the bench mark for smoothness.
Dennis, I only have a few unrun engines, a couple of MDS 2.18s, 3 MDS 1.48s, a black and gold Irvine .53 and the Enya. I adapted a Super Tigre Swing muffler to the Enya, I have a box of about 40 mufflers and none would fit, not even Enya mufflers. |
RE: Enya .60x Engine
That's just how my rear exhaust is, no pinch but install a plug and the compression is impressive!
|
RE: Enya .60x Engine
I ran it for 25 minutes on Fox 5% nitro fuel with 20% castor lube and a Fox standard GoldPost plug, it peaked at 11,400 with a ProZinger 12x7 but after 30 seconds it began to sag a little so I immediately richened it to 11,000. The prop range in the instructions is rather strange, 11 to 13 inches dia. and 12 to 8 inches of pitch which I take to mean an 11x12 to a 13x8. That makes the 12x7 too small. It sure runs nice. It barks pretty loud even with the .61/.90 SuperTigre Quiet Muffler. I accidently put a Fox #8 plug in it and it was a little rattly in the midrange so I changed to the Fox Standard, no more rattle.

RE: Enya .60x Engine
IMO a 11-7 would not be too small. A chart would have been better.
|
RE: Enya .60x Engine
If it was not an Enya chart it would not be correct.

RE: Enya .60x Engine
I have the same engine and a OS .61 fsr muffler (#744) is a perfect fit on the enya .60X
My engine was new when I got it and has no pinch at TDC either. I thought my engine may have been poorly fitted, but it runs great. It is the AAC model. I expected it to be fitted similar to a ABC but it's not. |
RE: Enya .60x Engine
How about the airbleed carburetor on most ENYA engines? is it smoth and reliable? Thanks

Here is a better solution for the Enya .60 muffler problem. I received these mufflers from Dar Zeelon today and they fit the Enya perfectly, the opening heighth in the muffler is higher than the engine opening but does not gap open. These mufflers are light and quiet.

RE: Enya .60x Engine
I have a NIB muffler for an Enya 60X, still in the un opened plastic bag.
