On board glow driver on a YS engine
Looking for an on board glow driver for a YS engine. I've looked around a bit but can't find one i like. I want one already assembled, and around $50 or less. For a YS engine, will I need a special plug since the glow plug is sunken into the the engine? I would like one I can start the engine with, and will come on and off depending on where the throttle stick is and will let me kill the engine from the transmitter. Does anyone know of websites with a glow driver like this one? Thanks

the one made by RAM does just what you want. Tower Hobbies sells them: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXDZ82&P=7
I've had good luck with it on a Saito 180... I wouldn't see any mods needed to get it to work on the YS....you're just going to end up burning up those OS F's a little more frequently (I went thru 2 this year over about 5 gallons of flying)...but works great! |

How about making one yourself? There simple. Get a Sullivan remote glow adapter from your local hobby shop, a micro switch and sub-c battery holder from Radio Shack and install it in the plane yourself. Set the micro switch up on the throttle servo so it turns on at idle and goes off at 1/4 throttle. They work great. I have made 3 of them. If you want longer usage, buy a double battery holder and rewire it in parallel so you still only have 1.2 volts, but now you can double the amps, instead of 1200ma on a single cell, you will have 2400ma. It will last twice as long between chargings.
