RE: need info on SK .50 engines

Quality is variable on them.

One person will tell you they are a great deal for the money,

Another will tell you they are so so

And another will tell you they are junk

The ones I've seen ran just fine.

They are made in the interior of China by a company who also sells the engine under the name of J-Blue Arrow or something like that.

Do a search on Kangke in glow engines only and see if you can pull anything up on them.

The search engine will not work on the two letter SK

Enjoy,

Jim

RE: need info on SK .50 engines

Had an SK56 and it was rather disappointing power-wise.

My TT46Pros have far more power and are much nicer handling -- the SK would blow a prop off occasionally by backfiring when starting (even on low-nitro fuel (5%) and an OS#8 plug.

The SK also vibrated far more than any other 2-stroke I've had and its throttle response was *bad* -- absolutely useless for 3D and not even really reliable enough for sports flying -- too many dead-sticks after loading up at half-throttle and dieing.

This engine also never really felt "free". While all of my other engines would "plop" back and forth against compression (even the ringed ones), the SK appeared to have quite a bit of friction in the bore and never felt anywhere near as free.

I don't use the SK any more, it was a very cheap engine but offered absolutely no value for money.

As a previous poster said however, many others have had different results with their SK engines and I suspect my experiences say more about the lack of QC rather than the overal design and construction.
