Removing Shellac?
 

Hi,
Can someone please tell me how to remove shellac from an engine.

I know there is a method when you diamantle the engine and boil it in anti-freeze, but I want to keep the engine assembled.

Is there anything I can mix to make something which will remove it?

Do you mean burnt oil on the outside of the engine, or congealed oil
or varnish on the inner parts of the engine ?

The burnt oil. The Gold/brown stuff on the head.

Is there any thing I can mix to help remove this??

Yes, it is simple.

Remove all plastic parts and o-rings from the engine. Get an old crockpot, which is never to be used for cooking food again, and submerse the engine in pure anti-freeze (NOT the biodegradable kind). Put the crockpot on low heat and let the engine soak over night. It will look like new in the morning.

I've also read in an RC magazine that the Stripeze brand of paint stripper works and you can use it while the engine is on the plane, but be careful
