Removing Shellac?
Hi,
Can someone please tell me how to remove shellac from an engine. I know there is a method when you diamantle the engine and boil it in anti-freeze, but I want to keep the engine assembled. Is there anything I can mix to make something which will remove it? Thanks, Ross |
RE: Removing Shellac?
Do you mean burnt oil on the outside of the engine, or congealed oil
or varnish on the inner parts of the engine ? FBD. |

The burnt oil. The Gold/brown stuff on the head.
Is there any thing I can mix to help remove this?? Thanks, Ross |

ORIGINAL: ross001 The burnt oil. The Gold/brown stuff on the head. Is there any thing I can mix to help remove this?? Thanks, Ross ------------------ Yes, it is simple. Remove all plastic parts and o-rings from the engine. Get an old crockpot, which is never to be used for cooking food again, and submerse the engine in pure anti-freeze (NOT the biodegradable kind). Put the crockpot on low heat and let the engine soak over night. It will look like new in the morning. |

Thanks, will give it a go

I've also read in an RC magazine that the Stripeze brand of paint stripper works and you can use it while the engine is on the plane, but be careful
