Engine mounting vertical vs horizontal?
 

I am finishing up a tower Uproar 60. I am going to put a Supertigre 61 on it. The plans show the engine vertical, but with it that way the exaust sprays right on the wing. I am thinking about laying it on its right side so the exaust exits under the fuselage. I know lots of engines are mounted this way but I have never done it. Is there anything I should know about besides having to add some weight to the left wing tip for balance? Will it idle and transistion as well? I also have a header and tuned pipe I could use in place of the stock muffler. But as I understand it a pipe is for running wide open, and with this plane I will be using part throttle a lot. Should I use the pipe or stock? Im just a intermeidate flyer.

I always mount my engines somewhat canted on there side, either 45 degrees or something near that.
No ! There is nothing special you have to think about when mounting your engine canted on its side...this position is often much better to use as the carburettor lines up with the fueltank much more easily than using a vertical position.
Also it much easier to get to the fuelneedle!
