Are there any engine collectors out there (preferably 1/2A) that can advise me on who, or where to contact someone, on the value of a collectors engine?
I have an original NORVEL .06 AME engine, in the original wrapper,(not box)never opened. IT IS ONE OF THE VERY FIRST ENGINES MANUFACTURED BY NORTHERN VELOCITY(NORVEL) I believe ,it may be the only one in existence, unopened. I would appreciate an info any one can contribute. Thanks, Paul

I don`t think I can be classified as a collector, more of a buyer, re-builder & seller. My experience with small engine mfg. is that they make many thousands to recoup design & pre-production costs. Supply & demand , I have not seen anyone looking for one like yours. It being still in package is a plus. Maybe some day in future when many others are destroyed or lost, but I think that`s maybe 40 to 50 years away. I wish now that I would have bought several engines back in late 40,s. but I was a kid & $4.95 was big money. If I am wrong some day look me up in that big model shop in the sky & feel free to rub it in ! big max 1935

Paul,

Besides word-of-mouth, there aren't many sources to appraise
your engine. Try this website:

http://www.modelengine.org/index.htm

Not much info on their homepage and I believe you have to join
them for more info.

Paul : I was hoping that you would get more replies , so I will try to help a little more. Some where on the inter-net is a Society Of Antique Modelers site, they have an engine collectors division, MECA . I am new at this computer game & haven`t tried it yet. Some one will maybe tell where it is ? RCM lists a price guide(1911-1965)around $40.00 plus shipping. I follow E-bay , but I think a lot of those items are bought & sold by non-modelers, a lot of speculators, pawn & antique dealers, not a true guide to worth. This seems to be the best site, at least more modelers. Maybe this will open the door a little more. MAX
