Tower Hobbies Engines
Anyone used any of the tower engines. There 46 has a tenth more BHP than the OS 46. Just wandering if there good engines and user friendly? THANK YOU

RE: Tower Hobbies Engines
Great engines with lots of power at half the price of OS.

RE: Tower Hobbies Engines
The Tower .75 is probably the best bargain in R/C today. What a
powerhouse for ninety five bucks. ;) FBD.:D |
RE: Tower Hobbies Engines
I really want one of those 75`s after reading so much good about them. Would it be a good choice for a harrier 46? I could use more power, but all 91`s will be a tad too heavy I think, and the 60`s is no more powerful than my asp 52 and mvs 49( I had the os 60 fx, sold it)

RE: Tower Hobbies Engines
I bought a TH .46 last year and it was so awsome, I bought a 2nd one three months later....they ran great and had tremendous power....unfortunately, they are both in a box right now waiting to be shipped back to Tower....after about the same amount of run time on both of them, they just started cutting out at full throttle...after several dead sticks and one crash, I put them both on the test stand, tried different plugs, adjusted idle speed, high speed, tried new fuel tank and lines, and they both still do the same thing...I called Tower first and asked if they had any suggestions before I mailed them back, and the only thing they said to check was if the muffler outlet was clogged (which neither was)....So, off they will go Monday....
Since I checked for air leaks coming into the carb as well, and didn't find any, I suspect that the front bearings are getting air in thru them, but guess I'll have to wait and see..... |
RE: Tower Hobbies Engines
The 75 has the power to swing a 13X6 and transitions great after breakin. I flushed the motor before start up and I didn't find one speck of manufacturing trash in the motor which is unusual. Most motors will have a few speck of metal but not the Tower 75, it was nice and clean and appeared to be well made. The only problem I had was the muffler wanting to vibrate loose and I easily solved that problem with some JB Weld. If you get one of these fine motors just go ahead and take the muffler apart and use acetone and clean it. Then use just a little JB Weld on every joint inclusing the muffler to motor. Not too much JB weld but just a little. Use Blue Loctite on the muffler bolts on every two stroke engine you run, on questions asked just do it. I know someone is thinking , A good motor shouldn't need this but OS presents the same problem. I have lost several OS mufflers and they aren't cheap. It is more powerful than the OS 61FX I replaced it with and runs just as good. I am sold on the Tower 75 and wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
