Moki 1.35 setup
 

HI,

I got an almost brand new moki 1.35 without manual and would like to know the basic setup of the high and the low speed needles.

They don't come with a manual, certainly not a specific Moki generated one. They're usually created by the importer/distributor, Just Engines in my case.
Use their website for info. Setting the high low needles isn't any different from any other engine, what is important is following the breaking in rutine.
Believe me that is a quest in its self... There isn't anything like it! Do it correctly and the engine will perform superbly.

The engine I got is not new and already finished break-in.
I started him today after I cleaned his carburetor.
Started very easy and ran very good.
I got the high speed needle about 1 -1.25 turn open, more than that was too rich.

Well you're well on your way then.
The HSN is just any other.
The LSN (dial) is very sensitive and only needs to be moved infactions.

I noticed that in the LSN.
As far as I remeber from the 1.80 manual I saw the HSN was something about 3 turns HSN, but there was no way to run with more than 1.5 turns.

This isn't a 1.80.
Anyway, you could take 5 identical engines, set them up around the world and they'd all have the HSN set differently.

TooLy, I have several Mokis 2.10 and 1.8, they all run between 1.25 and 1.75 turns out on the HS. If yours is at 1.5 it means you have adequate tank pressurization.

Low speed should be very close to the center, maybe a tick or two either way. Just set for the best transition. Move it in very very small increments (1/4 of a tick, 1/2 of a tick....etc).

I have 2 moki 1.35's and a couple 1.80's. The term to rmemeber with these engines is 'running in'. I estimate they are just about run in after 2-3 gallons has gone through them. My 1.35's run at about 1.75 turns out on HS, and about one click in on the LS, using 18% edl straight fuel, tuning 18 x 6 W APC props. The 1.80's are both in the middle on the LSN, and about 1.75 out on the HSN, running 20 x 8 APC's

I did find the 1.80 likes bigger diameter fuel tube otherwise it runs a bit on the lean side. Or use a perry pump / cline with std pipework.

Oh i forgot! I set the LSN needles by running the motor on about quarter throttle and treating it like a HSN, turning it (very very slightly, just a touch) clockwise until the motor just stops four stroking, then its pretty close. I have also heard on earlier 1.35's the LSN needle may need a 1/32 shim put behind it to make it run OK..
