Running a glow engine on Gasoline???

I found this article on the web...

Run Your Supertigre G.90 On Gasoline
It would often come to a stop when the throttle was opened, but hey this is very, very low. Advance the throttle slowly to full open and then adjust the needle valve for maximum rpm. I test ran the SuperTigre G.90 on the bench and found engine operation to be very user friendly just like a gasoline engine. If you normally use a 16 ounce fuel tank, you can easily fly the same length of time with an 8 ounce tank. This is because, unlike most gasoline engines, glow engines don't have needle bearings in the lower end of the con rod the extra oil is required for proper lubrication. It is possible to run your glow engine with standard glow fuel and the ProSpark ignition system. With a 14x8 prop, rpm dropped to tO,300. Although electronic ignitions that automatically adjust ignition timing are not a new development, their use with smaller glow engines is an area where several advantages can be gained.

Hi!
You can run a glow engine on gasoline provided you buy an ignition system for it and replace the glowplug with a spark plug.
But! ...there is a but here....most glow engines don't have needle bearings in the conrod which is the part which is subjected to a lot of stress and heat. Our plain bearing conrods really are not made to hold up well on fuel containing such low oil contents as most gas engines run on.

I has the old Bunch Mighty Midget gasoline engine from 1940.. if you want to run the engine at gasoline without needlebearing in conrod then you need 2 part gasoline to 1 part oil or 3 part gasoline to 1 part oil..

The gas engine are not powerful as glowengine in same size, but the engine will run longer in same tanksize cause high energy in gasoline.;)

Please re-read. He even states improved power and using no oil.

I think that a 10% oil mix in gas will do very well in a glow engine. Gas does not dilute the oil like methanol does, and the oils used for gas are so much better than glow fuel oils, except for Castor.
If the head can be modified to take a NGK CM6 spark plug (M10x1 thread) you are up and running. There also are 1/4x32 spark plugs available, but I do not know of ignitions for them. Becker used to have one.
Oh yes, also check the carb for metering properties and gasoline resistance, modify the prop drive washer to take the magnets, and make an ignition sensor bracket that fits the engine.
