yeah It does look good considering it says it will turn the same prop as the OS.91, anxiously awaiting myself for some input on this..

RE: new evolution 52.... 2 stroker
It is a tad larger and heavier than a 46 though. It kind of reminds me of a plane that I took a 46 out of and put a Magnum 52 XLS into. It definitely had more power but needed weight on the tail.

If it runs as good as the 45 and 46 it should be a nice engine without having to jump to full 60 size

RE: new evolution 52.... 2 stroker
skiman- I agree. I have the 45 and 46 too. Great engines. Evo may be placing that engine to compete with the OS 50SX. If it runs as good as the 45 & 46 then it will be a better engine all the way around.

And competing with the Magnum 52 also. I bet I would have had a lot less deadsticks with the new Evo!

I have an evo .45 and its GREAT :) Starts easily and runs all day ! I bet the .52 will be a great engine. More power for a negligable amount of weight.
What is the difference between the .45 and the .46 ????? JettPilot |

RE: new evolution 52.... 2 stroker
JettPilot,
That has been the question about how Evolution has introduced their engines. The .40 (Alpha engine) and .46 share the same cylinders, crankcases, and carbs. You can make the 40 almost into a 46 by using the 46 liner and piston. That gives you a 45, but not the same .45 Trainer Power System engine at all. The crankpin on the 46 is slightly different to give it more stroke. If you put in a 46 crankshaft, you would then have a .46NT. The .40 Alpha is better balanced than the .46NT. The .45 is a different engine and I don't think it shares any of the same parts. I haven't checked the carbs though. |
RE: new evolution 52.... 2 stroker
I do know the engine in the alpha 40 airplane is a .45

RE: new evolution 52.... 2 stroker
Skiman- yes, that is the .45 TPS engine. Another part of the confusion that I should have added is that Evolution called the .45 TPS a .40 for about a year.

RE: new evolution 52.... 2 stroker
Isn't that a little small? I'm not sure thats why I'm asking. Looking to put this motor in a .40 sized mustang, just waiting to see if anyone does something similar. Was going to get an OS 50 but am going to wait a little longer.
Someone has got to have some more numbers on this motor, prop/RPM's/nitro%...etc.. Shane |
RE: new evolution 52.... 2 stroker
Well, Magnum advertised the heck out of their 52 "turning 18,000" with a little prop like that.

RE: new evolution 52.... 2 stroker
I may have to try that sometime, guess thats what the racers do anyway. Larger dia.= higher thrust so I guess smaller would yeild more speed. Just seemed so small when you look at the numbers. lol
