STRIPPED THREADS ON SAITO

I HAVE A SAITO 100 WITH STRIPPED THREADS ON THE CYL.
THIS ENGINE HAS BEEN A BAIN TO MY FLYING SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN JAN 2006.
I HAVE YET TO FLY A FULL TANK OF FUEL WITHOUT THE MUFFLER OR HEADER PIPE COMING
LOOSE ,AS A RESULT OF RETIGHTING SO MANY TIMES I NO HAVE STRIPPED THREADS.
I AHVE USED LOCTITE AND THREAD TAPE NEITHER WORKED PROP WAS BALANCED,
STILL LOOSE MUFFLER. I AM CONSIDERING TELLING SAITO WHERE THEY CAN PUT THEIR
ENGINES AND GETTING ANOUTHER 2 STROKE .
ANY HELP AS I WOULD LIKE TO FLY MY FUNTANA 90 MORE THAN 2MINUTES AT A TIME.[&o]

This guy can fix your cylinder like the one in the picture for about $30. That's better than paying $80 for a new cylinder. Call him on the phone.

I apply high temperature rtv sealant (red color) to the thread going into the engine, muffler, and the tightening nuts. Never had a problem.

Saito125,
Do you mean the crankshaft broke at the prop, or do you mean you snapped off the exhaust port.[X(]

LocTite is just about the worst thing you can use, every time it comes loose or you disassemble it part of the threads come out with the exhaust pipe. You might save the day using 3 layers of Teflon Plumbers tape wrapped CW around the threads. Do not be bashful with the wrench. I split the Teflon tape so it is not wider than the threads, you do not want it between the engine and the jam nut or over the end of the pipe.

I would agree if the locktite was cold but since its in a area thats heated the locktite will not do much if any good at all .once heated it looses strength ,the tape is the better way to go .

hi motorman37, what happened to my 100 saito was the muffler elbow itself it sheered off at the jam nut on the motor end.....
