RE: Webra Questions

Cap, I use a Fox Miracle plug in mine, but I only use 5% nitro, more nitro might require a cooler plug. If you could come up with an Irvine Q 72 carb it will fit perfectly, same bore and neck dia. The latest Irvine carbs have too large a neck diameter. Just Engines may have one or try Justin at Sig. I have a lot of extra carbs, I'll check some out.

Cap, here is what Tower says the neck OD and ID is on the 2300 carb base.====Carb base: 17mm O.D. 12mm I.D. I happen to like ST carbs and use on several non ST engines.

hobbsy: I hear you are a YS man! What do you know about a 1.40. I hecked the valve clearance and found out the intake valve is sticking! I cleaned the stem real good...but it still sticks open. Thanks Capt,n[:o]

RE: Webra Questions

Cap, if cleaning it did no good is there a chance that it got overrevved and bent the valve stem slightly. I was talking to w8ye on the phone a few days ago, he has gotten rid of his YSs and now I am going to do the same. I luv engines almost more than anybody but YSs are more trouble than they're worth.

Did you find a carb for the Webra 1.20 yet? I have several and plan to put a couple on my 1.20 and send you one that has good clean mid range.

RE: Webra Questions

Hobbsy: Nope...no carb yet! Let me know what you got for a carb and how much. That YS 1.40 I worked on for my friend sure looks and runs nice except it took a heck of a lot of tuning. Also when valve sticks...it quits! I do not like the exhaust set-up at all. The piston was clean as a mirror with no marks from valve hitting it. It is only turnig about 8300 RPM...so that should not hurt the valve train. What are all the holes for around the intake valve? Is this a way of supercharging from crankcase? Really looks strange! I figure the pressure must come from crankcase through the circle of holes. He sent the engine back for a new intake valve. We will see what happens. Take Care ......Capt,n

RE: Webra Questions

Cap, the rocker area serves as a plenum to store part of the supercharged air and fuel mix, when the intake valve opens it dumps into intake flow with what is stored in the fat intake pipe or plenum box on the .91s and 1.10s.
