Fox .25 Inverted
Hello all-
I'm building a Pica 40" span Mustang and the plans call out for mounting the engine inverted. I favor this installation, as it disturbs little of the visible cowling and will contribute to a cleaner look. The plane has landing gear so will not be doing any belly landings. My question is this: I've heard from some that inverted mounting of two strokes is inviting problems, particularly to starting and flooding. I can easily mount right-side up or even at a 45, but I need to make my decision soon. Any experience out there with this situation in general, or this motor specifically??? Thanks. |
inverted
The Fox .25 is a great engine and will work well upside down, tune the low speed as lean as you dare and hand flip it to check for hydro lock before applying the starter. This applies to all inverted engines. You can choke it by holding your finger over the exhaust while flipping it.
