Engine flameout problem

Maybe someone can help me. My OS 1.08 dies after about 5 - 8 minutes of strong running while in the air. I have checked all lines, tank position, and any other thing I could do but to no avail. I am thinking about leaving the glow plug lit for the entire flight using the onboard system. Would that destroy the plug or dramatically shorten its life? I'm about to give up on this thing and change engines or go to electric or something! Any help would be very much appreciated. Fred [email protected] Thanks!

It will not hurt the plug to leave it "on" the whole flight.

Sounds as though your tank is vibrating and causing the fuel to foam thereby making the engine run leaner.

I had one like this the other day and the brass fuel pick-up line was broken inside the stopper. When the line was under fuel it ran fine but as the tank level got down, it would start sucking air and running lean.

My old song and dance is it sounds like tuning to me. I have 2 OS 1.08's. Best running engines around

Any hints at tuning this engine would be appreciated. It has a really odd low end adjustment as I recall. The high end is tuned fine wiht great response and shows a slight trail of smoke when sky conditions permit you to see it. I sure would enjoy this plane a whole lot more if every landing was not a dead stick one. Thanks! Fred

That is a nasty little problem you had there, Jim. I'll remember that one just in case......

RE: Engine flameout problem

It was with Glenn's engine.

I took the tank apart and as I went to pull the clunk line tube off, the back half of the tube came with the flex tube.

I had thought that the flex tube had a hole in it?
