Which Engine? DPM Ultimate

DPM Ultimate 120 Biplane. What flavor will be best? The new OS 120 AX, OS 120 surpass w/pump, or Saito 125 four stroke. I am looking for dependability as well as power. Easy starting and smooth running! Thanks

The specs on the os 120 surpass show much less horsepower than the 120AX, should this be a concern for the DPM ultimate and also what fuel is best with the 120 surpass 4-stroke? Thanks

Nothing less than a Saito 180 or YS 160 DZ IMO. Keep it simple, keep it light with lots of power. Do a search in the ARF forum, lots of tips there.

How about the YS 120 AC? I have never had a YS engine but have always heard good things. Thanks

The YS 120 AC would be the best choice if you're determined on running a 1.2 ci. four stroke in the Ulti. This plane weighs in at 12-13 lbs and there is a lot of drag being a bipe. A 1.2 will fly it, but not with authority. A YS 140 would be a better choice, but the 160 DZ would be the ticket.
If you wish to use a two stroke I would go with an OS 160 FX or a 1.8 Moki.

I have a Saito 180 in my Ultimate. I believe it weighed in at 12 Lbs-12 oz. It does fly quite well with very good vertical performance, but slow to pull out of a hover with a APC 18 x 6. If I had to do it over again I would go with 160 DZ.

Yep, no way you would get good performance from a 12 pound or more aircraft with a 120. Even allowing for slightly less weight for a 120, maybe 8 ounces less, it would still weight at least 11.5 pounds. Being a 2 stroke fan, and not being able to afford buying YS motors, I would go for the OS 160 FX.

Had a guy here at 5000ft with a YS 120 and it was very impressive in the DP Ultimate. Thing is the YS is an expensive sucker. If it were me, I'd spend iton a Saito180
