Muffler Selection Help Needed!
Hi Everyone,
I am putting together a .60 sized Great Planes Extra 330S. I plan on putting the OS Max 91FX in it. I want to use a Pitts muffler so the model will look better, but I also want all the power the engine can put out at 7000ft. I am considering the Bisson Pitts muffler, but will this muffler (or any pitts muffler for that matter) restrict the power compared to the stock muffler? Thanks for your help. :D |

Pitts mufflers are not made for performance, their for getting the exhaust out at the stock location on the plane. It shouldn't hurt anything to use one, just don't expect the engine to give you top performance. A tuned pipe would give the power your looking for, but it wouldn't look very scale hanging on the side or bottom of your plane.
The .91fx has a ton of power, so it may not hurt to use the Pitts. It sure would look better. |

Thanks Suptter, for the info.
If this were your project, and you wanted to keep as much performance from the engine as you could, what pitts muffler would you use? I really would like to keep it looking scale, but at 7000ft above sea level, an engine looses about 30%of its power. Do you have any other recommendations that would still keep the plane looking good? Thanks again. |

The Jett turbo muffler should fill the bill. It's rather high, but can give better performance than the stock muffler and a lot more than most other "pitts" style mufflers. Check em out.
