Evolution 46 alpha needle stop ?
I have an evolution alpha engine, which I guess is the same as the 46nt. The thing has a silly high end needle adjustment stop. When I lean it out I take the high end adjustment all the way to the stop and it seems to run fine and it is at or near peak. However, I don't get a drop in rpm to let me know where I am at on the rpm curve.
I simply want to remove the thing but can't. There is a set screw that I have removed but the adjustment stop will not come off. Does anyone have any advice. |
RE: Evolution 46 alpha needle stop ?
On my .46 EVO the stop appeared to be similar to a very small roll pin with just a tiny bit sticking out. It would hit the "clicker". I simply took a good pair of needle nose pliers and pulled mine out. I removed the needle first (counting my turns in, and then removing it), and then put it in a small vise and pulled it out. Came out relatively easy.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

RE: Evolution 46 alpha needle stop ?
The Alpha uses the same crankcase and cylinder head as the .46NT, but a different liner, piston, and crankshaft. You can turn it into a .46NT by changing those parts. The Alpha is a smoother running engine than the .46NT because the crankshaft is better balanced.
