Small Muffler Big Engine?
 

I recently been having trouble finding a muffler that will fit my ASP 1.08 and haven't had much success. Apparently Just Engines in the UK have parts, but i haven't had a response from them. I have found a couple of other mufflers that i could easily modify to fit it though. The OS 91FX muffler has the same distance between the mounting holes, but i am unsure whether it will cause the engine to burn out. Any suggestions or experiences people have relating to this are welcome?

How about a magnum 1.08 muffler. Downunder must have Mag dealers. Maybe SC engine dealer too.

I think anything that fits an OS 91 fits the ASP 108.

Just Engines usually have a variety in stock see pic and it is unusual for them not to reply quickly.

Have you checked out RC Warehouse in QLD, they have all sorts of mufflers,

Magnum 108, older OS 108 both fit right up as do the various aftermarket Pitts style mufflers. If the port and mounting bolts match go for it. The only problem would be restriction and that would be apparent by lack of rpm. The Magnum/ASP does not turn high anyway, maybe 9k or so. If you don't over prop or run lean you won't hurt it.

It is a myth that a restrictive muffler will burn out a two-stroke glow engine.

The engine is basically an air pump. Anything that restricts the flow of air, simply reduces the amount of available power. This assumes that the carb mixture is maintained at a proper mix ratio. You can't just add devices to the engine without readjusting the carb.

Years ago, we used two-stroke glow engines that utilized variable exhaust baffle plates to maintain engine heat at reduced throttle positions. No one burnt up an engine because of it. While it is not the same thing, it is not totally unrelated.

I think the current production Magnum .91 muffler assy. would be your best bet.
They are available, and the low cost makes it happen. ;)

Thanks for the great response everyone thats great. I think i'll go with an OS 91 or magnum 91 as they're fairly easy to come by.
