OS 61 FX vs. Super Tigre 90 G ring

Would a super tigre 90 ringed engine have a lot more power than the OS 61 FX if it was on my goldberg tiger 60?

I need to know,

charlie

Yes. You will get about 10,500 with a G90 and a APC 14-6.

If you like fast fly-by type stuff, you will probably need to go 13-6 or 7

I have the OS 61 FX on the tiger 60 at the moment. I know my OS 91 surpass 4 stroke out performs the 61FX thats on it now.

I wonder if the 90 ring super tigre will out perform the OS 91 surpass if I tried one on my tiger 60?

Well in power it will, but then I prefer a 4 stroke on a plane like the Tiger 60 (have the Sig 4*60 with a Saito 4 stroke myself) and that .91 Surpass is mucho plenty power for that size plane[8D]
But to your original question, the G90 has 50% greater displacement than the .61 FX, so it will have the edge over the .61. Big difference with the ST G91, you have to break it in:D, they have a reputation for taking a while to fully break in, in fact I have one with about half a gallon thru it and hope to maiden my Goldberg (BIY) Extra 300 soon, engine is running fine for a maiden, so hope to get some more time on it in the air.

You'd have to shuffle some things around to get the balance back with the G90.

I would take the G90 over the 91fx, nevermind the 61fx.

I cannot compare the ST90 to a 61FX but can tell you it compares very well against a 91FX. I have used both motors on the same plane, using the same prop and fuel, flying at the same field during similar weather conditions. The ST90 develops very similar power, is a litle bit louder, doesn't quite carburate as well (slightly rich mid range), but has been more reliable and is a whole lot cheaper to buy than the 91FX. The ST does require more running-in than an OS but once you've put a few litres through it you will be rewarded with really good performance. For my sport, pattern or scale planes, I'll take the ST90 over the OS and save the dollars for the next project, it is great motor. Good luuck with whatever you choose.

Install a G90 in it, it'll be fine. many pilots opt for 90's when their planes suggest a 60.

The 90 will out perform the 61. I cannot give you exact figures bit it will swing at least an 1" larger prop about the same rpm range.

If you want a good and powerfull engine then buy the OS91FX. This engine runs very nice, reliable and quiet "right out of the box" and that makes you and your clubmates happy:D OS-F or Enya 3 are good glowplugs for this engine.

I like the G-90, it has been a very reliable engine for me. I remove the baffle from the ST muffler as they usually come loose anyway. The noise level changes little with it removed but the power increases some.
