Checking crashed engine

Hello,

I have a crashed Saito 91 engine, the crankcase at the back has
a crack.

I am not sure if the crank is bent, there is a little friction when it
is turned and it can do a full turn. The bearing are probably
crushed which could be causing this.

What is the best way to check if the crank is bent ?

I see in the previous post, guys are talking about forcing it back straight. What are the implications ?

Worse case I have to buy crank, bearings, crankcase, carb.
Best cast I would not have to buy the crank.

The bearings are NTN type, would these be the same which are
sold by NTN distributors for auto/machine etc ?

Thanks,

L

Checking crashed engine

Get your bearings from www.bocabearings.com I check the cranks with a dial indacator myself but if it is bent I would replace it. Boca sells a set of bearings for that engine fo 20 bucks, dunno what a crank cost, but if the bearings are crushed its pretty hard to get a reliable reading on the crank. Id check over the rest of the engine real close .....anyore damage and it might not be worth repairing. If so ,buy a new one and in your old one you have a extra jug for it .
