What engine is this?
Looks like one of the old SquareEX engines. Also known as PNA engines.
|
It's the deluxe red square x
OK, now that I know it's a old SquareEX engine or a more accurately a deluxe red square x , is it worth bothering with or should I just put it with all the stuff I seem to collect :-)

OHMYGOD!
A four Cylinder Red X! Now that is valuable!
.....but sometimes you will burn out the last cylinder in a lean run, since it doesn't get much air. Then you have an Ex-X. |
I bit
OK Ladyflyer you got me. I will hang on to it for 10 years then throw it.

Well, it's a Picco clone...
I think they were called SkySports or something along those lines...might not have the name right, but it is a dead ringer for a Picco.

Chuck
I think You are right This engine was eather produced by Pico or a exact coppy, and was intended for the Quickey-500 market. I believe they came as .40, .45, and.61 They were HOT engines but I am not sure of the workmanship.

It is a Picco, but do you know for what use.
Has a air cooled head, big venturi on the back and the exhaust is pointing to the prop shaft. (It is NOT a boat engine) |

What engine is this?
I have a ops 40 that is perfect. It has the purple anodized head and also has a matching anodized spinner. It has a slide carb and is a front carb side exhust. I will trade you even up for the skyward or buy it. My reason is very simple. I have a brandnew cabrb for that engine that is missing a spraybar and camnnot find one. Maybe if you sell or swap your motor i can see if it will work.

What engine is this?
That is a Skyward engine. It is made by Pico for the Canadian distributor and sold as the Skyward here in Canada.
Its a good strong engine, allbeit a bit heavy, but they run and run well! I have two of the 40's and a full tuned pipe for one. Clarence Lee did a review on them a while back, got good marks from him. My experience says the same. Andrew |
What engine is this?
Greetings ,
This is a Skyward .40 made by Picco for the Canadian Skyward company in Italy around late 70's. They also made a .60 version. In New in Box condition it is very collectible as they only produced them for a year or two. Extremely well made and powerful engines. Attractive as well. I collect .40s and this is one of my favorites! It is better than most current day engines! Max |

I stand corrected!
Apparently they still make them or at least they are available. I'm going to order a few more! Max |
