RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
I use the OS F
Y-S Four stroke Saito SS H9 Four Stoke Super Plug They all work the same for me. |
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
Experience tought me to stay away from Fox plugs. You really can't go wrong with an OS #F plug. Especially if you want reliability and longevity.

RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
You cannot go wrong with the OS f. I tried Saito's new plug and good success also, but there old plug sucked. I also think the only thing a Fox glow plug is good for is keeping dust from getting in a stored engine.

F just like in school:D

RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
Experience has taught ME that I can't go wrong with a Fox Miricle plug.

OS F
Saito SS Both seem to run the same for me. For reasons I can't exactly explain, I prefer the Saito SS. ???? |
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
I've run NOTHING but Fox plugs for over 30 years! they work just fine and are alot cheaper priced then the OS's! Every four stroke i have, and i've got about 40 of them ranging from my small OS 26 surpass to my YS 140DZ and every one of them have a FOX RC long idle bar glow plug in them. I tried a 9 dollar OS type F in my YS 91 AC once, and it lasted 1 flight and was burnned out. 9 bucks for 1 flight isent my idea of flying fun. Put a new Fox in it,and it's been in it every since, going on 5 years now and not one problem!
So what i'm saying is this, choose any plug you like and works for you. Just because one is higher priced then another, does not mean it's better, just more costly. Good Flying Art |
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
Saito 82, OS-F plug, Powermaster 15% with 16% synthetic and 2% castor oil.

RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
OS F plug not only in 4 strokes but also in some of my 2 strokes ---- especially if they're inverted.
15% Nitro, 18% oil (16 synthetic, 2 castor). |
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
FOX Miracle plug. I have compared them to OS "F", and when I cannot tell which is in the engine, I quit spending the bucks for the "F". Miracle seems to last a lot longer then "F" as well.

RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
Fox Miracle, Saito SS and GloDevil 4c Special, Enya #3
|
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
Use OS F plugs, Fox Micacle plugs and Saito plugs. For four stroke like the OS F and the Fox best. Rarely burned out a plug flying, but have worn the corners so my glow igniter did not lock more then once.
Has anyone seen any diference between the Fox Miracle and Fox 4 stroke plug? |
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
Ok , I pulled the plug and took a look at the coil. It still glows but the coil is a little tweaked. The only other plugs I have are regular plugs , with and with out idle bars. After hearing Art has no troubles I put a Fox plug in with an Idle bar and the top end smoothed out. My idle changed a little but I can work on that , at least its running better. I'm not saying anything bad about my Miracle plug , I think I either got a bad one or it just got damaged some how.

RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
Fox, OS "F", or the Saito plug. 4Cs don't go through plugs very often.
If those don't work....you've got some other problem. |
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
I haven't found a bad four stroke glow plug. How good they are only depends on the fuel and prop and proper heat of the plug. I will list the plugs I have tried (at least the ones I can recall) from hottest at the top to coldest at the bottom.
Thunderbolt four stroke (Great for low nitro or inverted engines) OS F (Great for moderately low nitro or smaller sized props) Fox Miricle (Probably the best all round plug especially with moderate nitro) K&B 4C (Really steps up the power with high nitro 25% or greater, but still has a great idle and transition) |

Hi!
OS F I'm running 5% nitro and 15% all syntetic oil. |
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
OS F, They last almost indefinately so cost is a small issue.
|
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
And that's the whole thing.....
Given that an OS "F" (or similar) will last an inordinate amount of time in a mechanically sound engine....who cares if it cost 7 or 8 bucks? You don't change them but once in a blue moon. You'd spend far more in that period of time replacing props and fuel tubing. Plenty of choices out there. Pick one that works for you, and you're done. |
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
I can't say the OS F outlasts other plugs. They all last well if you treat them right. If you are using a hot plug where a cooler one would give more power then you are running richer. This would make a hot plug last longer.

RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
I have to agree with you Sport pilot! I've got a old OS 40 FSR in a sig cougar thats had the same fox plug in it for over 10 years, and it still fires up on the first flip of the prop and runs like a champ! Glow plugs last for GOD only knows how long, depending on you motor, fuel and load you put on the motor.

RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
Fox, K&B, OS, Fireball and others have all produced good results for me. Heat range is more important than brand. I have found the Fox Miracle to be quite versatile in both two and four strokes.

RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
OS F plug, Magnum 61 and 80 fourstrokes, 10% nitro fuel. Yet to replace an F plug.....
|
RE: What plug are you using in your 4 stroke ??
Enya subscribes their #3 glow-plug for their four-stroke engine...
...That's a hot rated two-stroke plug? Yes and without any nose extension, but I would gladly try it in an OS, because Enya surely knows what's good. |
