Engine for a 1/3 scale
I am looking for suggestions on what engine to use for a 1/3 scale engineered scale model. I am familiar with engines in the 1-1.5 hp range (super tiger 90) but not with larger engines in the 4-5 hp range.
The purpose is to use the model is to aid in engineering a full size seaplane that I am designing. I have done a 1/4 scale RC model, including wind tunnel tests, and am somewhat experienced in modeling, but by no mean an "expert." The full size airplane will have a 180 hp engine, and the 1/3 scale should be around 3.8 hp at least. Anybody who knows their engines well enough to give me some discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of any suggested engines is welcome to chime in. Holden |
Engine for a 1/3 scale
Holden:
It really depends on what plane you are going to use the engine in. If you are new to gas I would suggest a zenoah, they are very user friendly, the g-62 is a 62cc with 5 horsepower & can be found in the engines for sale section of this forum for very reasonable prices. just my opinion Gil |
