Fox #8 Glow Plug?
 

Anyone know what heat range the Fox Pro Series #8 long glow plug is? Hot, Medium, Cool?

I think they are medium to hot, definitely hotter than the Fox idle bar plug.

What I would like to know is if the Tower Power plug is the same as the OS number 8 but cheaper. They appear to be made by OS..... also, why in the world are these plugs made in short reach only. They leave so many threads exposed in the head!

The Fox Pro #8 is a cold plug.

The OS #8 and the Tower Power plug sure look just alike. I use them both and they run alike too. The only way to tell the difference is that the OS plugs have an 8 on the flat.

OS #8 and Tower Power plugs are not short reach. They are about half way between a short and a long. they are considered to be a hot plug but being recessed up in the head like that probably takes a little effective heat away from them?

Tower Hobbies didn't mention the Fox #8 heat range...so I made an assumption and was wrong.

I have the Fox #8. My new Irvine .53 won't run with it.
No matter how I adjust the low end, it just won't hold an idle. Very often, when I take the glow driver off, it sags and or quits. At first I thought it was rich, so I continued adjusting the low end etc. Is this a symptom of a cold plug? Runs great at top speed.

I have another Irvine .53...took a little to get it tuned in, but it did fine with an OS #8 or OS A3.

I'm going to run my 2nd Irvine inverted...I've been led to believe a plug with an idle bar will help it...any recommendations on a med/hot plug with idle bar?

Fox #8 is supposed to be colder than their gold post plug. How is stands against others I don't know. Haven't tried the gold post or #8.

Yep, too cold of a plug will cause an rpm drop when removing the glow driver. More nitro or a hotter plug will remedy the situation.

I am still wondering WHY the OS plugs are shorter than "long" plugs should be. Exposed threads in the head doesn't seem like a good idea. Also it would lead to stripped threads easier.
