Super Tigre Advice
 

I've decided to post "my" experience with the Super Tigre 3250, as I'm aware of the
many other posts regarding this brand of engine.

From the very get go, I couldn't get my engine to run right. The engine is mounted on it's side, and the tank is mounted 1/4 to 1/2 inch higher than the center line of the carb. The first problem I had was that the engine had terrible low end characteristics and I simply couldn't adjust it out. The transition from low to high was horrible. Once I'd think I had it right, something else would be out of tune. Well, I went to an OS Four-Stroke plug and that cured the problem. Now, it'll idle all day long and the transition is superb. Secondly, the carb fuel nipple is way to small. I've got .25 sized engines with larger fuel nipples. I found that the engine would run pretty good on the ground, I'd get it in the air, and it would lean out. I adjusted the needle to where it was nearly completely out and it would still lean out. It eventually got to where it would lean out on the ground after around 8 to 10 seconds of running up to full throttle. I knew it had to be fuel related. That's when I noticed how small the fuel inlet was. I replace the stock nipple with an 8/32 nipple. I had to drill and tap for the new one. I also went with large fuel tubing in the tank and to the carb. Medium would probably be sufficient, but I decided to go all out. Well the rest is history. Now, at 4 turns out on the needle, there is plenty of white smoke, the engine's running a bit rich but strong, and there's plenty of room for leaning.

That's what fixed my problems. I'm sure that this will cure the problems people are having with the G2300, G3000, and G3250. These are all considered "large" glow engines and they all require large amounts of fuel to run correctly. If they're being starved, they'll never run right.

Sound like you know what you are doing Dart. The Super Tiger engines are superb engines that run and last but they aren't for a newcomer that has no idea hot to work with glow engines. I have good experience with the 51, 61, 90, and 2300. The 2300 was the only one that gave me problems but I kept working with it like you untill I got it all worked out and now it is my favorite over the others. The get better the longer they are run also.

Yard-dart, If you switch to the fuel blended for the big Tigre's. Most of the smoke will go away. I use the Byron with great results. When I broke the engine in with standard 15% it killed every insect for two blocks.

Sounds good, Have you considerd a Cline. I install them on my large glow, not to cure a problem but for efficiency. Also I don't like the sound of the Fuel tank being higher than the carb line. I run many engines inverted and always lower those tanks and never have issues. Just FYI's
