pressure fitting question

I finally dusted off my old lanier edge 540 73" bird, as i took the cowl off to inspect and get it back to flying condition, i noticed the pressure fitting on my saito 150's muffler could use tightening and i must have over tightened it and stripped it.....

my question is could i use jb weld with success and use the same pressure fitting? i have used it on 2 stroke glow with out any failure, but i hear 4 strokes generate more heat...i would hate for it to "melt" and cause me an unnecessary dead stick

Good question. JBWeld is supposed to be good to 500 deg F. I don't think your muffler would get that hot. [link=http://jbweld.net/products/jbweld.php]JBWeld link[/link]

RE: pressure fitting question

I've seen JBweld on four stroke mufflers.

Maybe the guy didn't run them hard?

I fourstroke exhaust can be as high 550-600 Deg's F. Look at what it does to silocone extensions. It will also start to burn Teflon which is good for 500 sustained.

RE: pressure fitting question

Tried to JB Weld the press. fitting on a friends Saito 1.80 muffler...it didn't take long to melt.

What we did was to find a bolt that would fit into the press. fittings old hole and sort of cut it's own threads...(we cut it real short first ) and we plugged the old hole. Then we made a new hole for the press. fitting.
