os ft300 and pery pump

hi guys.
i have a problem with the position of my fuell tank on the airframe. the tank(top of the tank) is about 2" inches higher than the carburator of my os ft300 engine. the instructions manual says that the top of the tank should be about 1/2" in maximim higher than the carb to avoid fuell leaking.
as you can see i am about 1 1/2 inches higher than the recomended point and i have fuell leaking from the carb when the engine is not runing.i did not tryid to run the engine yet. please anyone can help me solve this?
i heard about pery pumps but i am not familiar with any of them. anyone have experience with those pumps?
please help.

thanks!!
achilles

The pump works however I have recently found that it will not stop your carb from loading up with fuel if the tank is higher. But if you lower the mounting position of the pump, it will stop. If you have the vibration pump this may be difficult but it works on the pulse unit. You can test this before you mount it by priming the pump with fuel and the fuel line disconnected from the engine and in-hand. If fuel starts siphoning out, obviously its too high. A Cline or Iron Bay regulator will stop the siphoning though and may be a better solution for you.

hi Patrick,
thanks for the reply. you are right about the iron or cline regulators but how i install them? both regulators need to pressurize the tank but the os ft300 has no mufler. how do i presurize the tank? simply drill a hole and put a niple in the exaust pipe? is this enouth?
i think the pressure inside a mufler will be higher that at a pipe alone.parhaps a mufler is a must?
i do not have purchased yet the pump so i cannot test it.

Depending on the plane, exhaust extentions might be what you could use for added back pressure and maybe a little muffling. I made my own on a Saito 90 twin using larger diameter brass tubing and some small reducing couplings. The Cline will work well.

If you need a custom exhaust with a pressure tap for your 300, go here,

http://www.keleo-creations.com/

I've read in previous threads that there is'nt much pressure to be had.
My 300 runs fine without pressure, but my tank is at the correct height.

Forget the after market pumps and all this stuff with this engine.

I had the same problem with my Ft-160 placed on a GP super stearman. Just use a clamp on the fuel tubing when your tank is full and engine not operating.

Durring operation there is absolutely no leakage. In my case there is no leak even when the engine if off pressumed that I have the throttle fully closed.
