ARE THESE mvvs engine any good two guys at our field has them and they talk about the power all the time.what about duralabity

I have two, a 77 and a 91 and I love them both. Really good power, easy to start and incredible idle. They can be a bit touchy to tune right, but once that is done they really perform.

Mine is run with the tuned minipipes and the soundlevel is quite acceptable.

As for fuel, I run them on a 10%nitro/15% full synth. mix that works well.

The liner is coated with true chrome :) and they seem very durable.

I agree. I emphasize the chrome lining. All the good engines have chrome linings. Chrome melts at a much higher temp than nickel.

I agree with flyby and remcl, except possibly about fuel. Be careful how much nitro you use. The instructions I have say that MV VS size 40 and above are all 'timed' to run on straight fuel and that the use of nitro can be 'limited to smaller engines, or where you require a faster throttle response, or on colder days and/or for high altitude'. They also say that 5% nitro is 'more than sufficient'. Oil level should be 20% minimum for run-in and 17% thereafter.

The only bad thing you can say about them is their price in the USA. They can be bought for a lot less elsewhere.

I have the .49. With the tuned muffler it gets 14,600 RPM on an MA 11x6 and idles at 1,850 RPM. All on cheap 5% fuel.

With its Czech ABC construction, and precision Swiss bearings, it will last over 200 hours.

It is the AK-47 of engines.

The bigger 10-15cc engines are timed and piped for low noise, low RPM operations. So they will spin a very big prop fast, but other high RPM engines, like Rossi and YS, will outrev them with "normal" .60-.90 sized props.

Ditto on Runway, low nitro goes for most high performance engines. I use 5 percent, but FAI works too. Good motor and works in cheaper fuel. 20 percent oil is a must on all engines. If you can not get it already in there add about 4 oz of oil to the stock 17 percent (Morgan).

I agree on the nitro content. They run just fine with no nitro.

On the oil level I think it is pretty much down to personal preference. I use 15% synth. oil on all my engines and I never had a problem. The 77 has quite a bit of running time on it and it still shows no sign of wear.

BTW I run mine with the Enya 3 plug.

I would be careful to use 15 percent oil in any motor, even the chrome ones. If you are having good luck with 15 percent you must be keeping the motor tuned right and staying a little on the rich side. My personal preference is 20 percent oil. The extra oil does not affect performance and it gives me a higher level of confidence against an accidental lean run. Running 15 percent oil in any engine is certainly a testament to its durability.

15% all synthetic oil is what I recommend for all 2,0-25cc MVVS engines (and every other small two or fourstroke)
French Motul "Micro" oil is what I recommend.

Have two a 40 and 45 great engines. Anyone have a crank for the 40? Inpacted the ground a little and bent it a little, engine is unhurt otherwise and in great shape.
