Perry pump & 2 stroke engine
 

Hey!

I have a question regarding the perry pump on a 2 stroke engine...

According to the instrucctions, the crankcase supplies pressure to the pump, so what happens with the muffler ? ... is the muffler only kept for "looks" and baffeling ?

What happens if I run an engine with a perry pump and no muffler ?

You shouldn't need muffler pressure to run the engine. If you run the engine first with the muffler and then without you'll need to readjust your carb settings due to the decrease in back-pressure. Hope you're not in a noise sensitive area!

You do not use muffler pressure with the Perry P-30 pump. The line that normally goes to the muffler is simply vented to the outside of the airframe.

You could run the engine with no muffler at all, but it will be very loud, and your idle may suffer from the lack of back pressure.

Perry pumps have a regulator, if you use muffler pressure it will fool the regulator and end up not getting proper pump regulation.
Let the muffler vented, don't pressurize the tank.
