The Unknown engine
Hey R/Cers
I have an engine that im not sure what it is. I do known it dont work because it is missing some internal hoses. Why do I know this, because I took it apart and some small tubing which was dry and cracked apart fell out. Thats why i would like some one out there to identify this engine and maybe help me rebuild it. I will post some pics |

It's a Cox reed valve .049. Most likely one of "Bee" series judging by the color and size of the tank. But, Cox made many, many different reed valve .049's over the years so it's difficult to say exactly which one it is.

Some of the things which differentiate the various models is whether or not it uses sub-piston induction, size, shape and number of openings per port. Tank size, color, exhaust sleeve and spring starter are some of the other features. If you can put together a list of these features that pertain to your engine, I'm sure someone here will be able to chime in and give you a definitive answer.

the shape of the cylinder and the taper on the front of the crankcase are from the older cox engines.
post your pics in the 1/2A forum and you'll probably get a swift response from some of the cox experts that live over there. dave |
