Help ID an engine

I recently aquired several glow engines from an estate. All are control line type.

I have one that I need help in identifying. It looks like an .049 (Cox?) The carb is on the front of the crankcase, the backplate screws into the crankcase.

The engine turns over freely and has good compression, looks like it would run.

Any help in identifying this engine is appreciated.

It's either a Cox Tee Dee .049 or .051 and the only way to tell the difference is to look near the bottom of the piston when you turn it to TDC. The .051 has a tiny groove machined near the bottom of the piston. Be aware they need special fuel with at least 20% castor and lots of nitro.

Looked at the piston like you said, and yes there is a groove, so it is a .051?

Are the ones with the tank on the back marked with the groove?

I am planning on selling these engines online soon, all are older and maybe some are collectors.

Great Engine, better than Norvel I might say. Norvel are too delicated with the type of fuel you put in. Cox... they take a beating.. Well that was before cox was bought by estes, I don't know If they still keep the same quality...

The one's with the tank on the back are the reed valve versions and as far as I know were only made as an 049. Yours is definitely an 051.
