OS160 Quitting Problems
 

Hey Guys


I have an OS160 that has about 2 gallons of Cool Power 15% on it and I never had a problem. Recently I switched to Magnum 15% and the engine is not transitioning as well and I am getting a lot of deadsticks. Could the fuel have this much of an affect on it?

Also, I am using standard size fuel tubing. Would I get better results with large tubing?

Hi!
Larger fueltubing won't help you ...but lower nitro percentage will.
Use 5% and the engine will perform perfect without any regulator or pump.....

Peoples' experiences seem to contradict what Jaka said. In my travels, the general consensus is that you have to step up to the next size larger tubing, and if you're using anything but the stock muffler, you need to use a pump.

I'm running 5% Omega this year, down from YS 20/20 blend, and it still runs lean in the air, crackling and pinging.

I'm running the larger tubing from the tank to the carb, and I just got done ordering a Perry VP30 pump from Tower Hobbies.

Hey Erick,

First off, nice review! Secondly, I have the 160 on my Creek Extra (which you helped me with... thanks.). I have a Slimline Pitts and could not get it to richen AT ALL without adding a pump. I could turn the high speed needle valve out 7, 8, 9 turns and it would never richen up. The pump made all the difference. I don't think you would need large fuel tubing with a pump. The pump alone will take care of the fuel needs. PS At the time my tank was in the nose. Now with the pump it's on the CG.

I seriously doubt fuel would be a problem. But it would be easy to test by switching back. I am currently using 10% Performance Plus. I was using 15% Power Master before, but got a deal on the Performance Plus for a case. I still get a little midrange transition burbling, but VERY little. And never a deadstick.

I'd check to see if you're able to richen the motor up. If you can turn the needle and nothing happens, get a pump. That may solve your problem.
