New OS 25 FP, value?
 

I have a chance to get one, or maybe two, OS 25 FP engines new in the box. They were originally purchased in 1995 and are still in the plastic bags, and have the manuals with them. Does anybody have a fair idea of what they should be worth? I've read on RCU that they were better engines than the current LA series of engines, but I've never run one.

A NIB 25FP can be worth as much a $60.00, or more , and good used ones go for $40.00 to $45.00. They really are nice little engines and can be fitted with a remote needle valve-- if that's an interest? The remote needle kits are available from Tower Hobbies for about $10.00.

I picked up a NIB OS 25 fp for $25 NZ dollars (about 12 US dollars!!!!). It is in really good condition, and i have run it once.
Very reliable idle and good performance.
I run a 9-4 and it ran really good. A 9-5 or 6 would work good also.
A really good running engine.

The OS FP series is a FAR better engine than the LA series, the only problem with them is that they have OS's older nickel plating process that can be prone to peeling and/or wearing out sooner. In comparison, the Thunder Tiger GP .25 has nickel plating, too, but at least twice as thick os the OS FP series. The TT's have never been known to peel or wear out prematurely. The TT GP .25 is still available and currently sells for ~$50 new with a 3 year warranty from an authorized dealer. With all of that in mind I would think that NIB OS FP .25's would be worth ~$40-45 as a reasonable value. Of course a collector might go as high as $75.
