Testor engine

I have a small tesor engine, I think it's a .049
It is new and never run.

But I cant get it to start, where these BAD engines or ??

I hear it ignite but no more, I have taking it apart and it looks good.

My cox's start first flip, even my norvel is a sweet engine, but this one is no fun at all.

Thanks

RE: Testor engine

Is it the reed valve version, or front rotor?

They were notorious for hard starting

ORIGINAL: w8ye

They were notorious for hard starting
I have several front rotor versions that start real easy.

I only had Cox planes. My friends never had luck getting their Testors plastic control line planes started. I don't recall whether they came with spring starters are not. We didn't know what electric starters were back then. They probably didn't make them in 1/2A size anyway.

Hi!
Does it have a white plastic tank and spring starter?

If it just sort of makes a light pop but never runs, the reed valve is not seating.

See if you can turn the reed around to the other side so maybe it will seal

I had one of these when I was a kid. The only way it would start was to first prime it with a little fuel put in thruogh the exhaust port. One started it ran real well, however the plastic plane it was in wouldn't fly.
