RE: Engine overheating??

Standard checks
mixture too lean
air getting into pipes
if you have it in a cowl is there any baffles in the cowl to direct the air around the engine AND sump.
is there an exit from the cowl for the hot air

Bad/worn plugs usually just lead to poor performance.

The wrong heat range plug could cause hot running.

I have never heard of it, but anything is possible. I would say lack of cooling air flow, or overly lean mixture is probaly the cause.;)

RE: Engine overheating??

all good suggestions, also how about too big of a prop? That would overheat an engine also.

RE: Engine overheating??

The engine is on a plane that has been flown for about 2 years. Same cowl, cooling never a problem. 15x14w apc prop, OS plug, 30% CoolPower fuel. Checked all the bolts on the engine, and the fuel lines. Tried a new gallon of fuel. Richened the needle valve. Could it be the bearings??

Thanks,
Larry

You might try a 15 X 4W prop and it would run cooler?

If it ran OK in the past, you may have a bad bearing?
