Optional mufflers for Saito's
Go to www.justengines.co.uk
Click to "silencers" (UK speak for mufflers) and then to "4 stroke" silencers. There are pictures of what you require. I bought a J'Tec 4 stroke silencer from Paul Landels of JustEngines to suit my Saito 91. Takes the exhaust straight down and does the job perfectly. Very nice people to deal with, great service and reasonable prices. Hope this helps. Regards fiery |

Inorris no problem , just contact your local Hobby shop LHS and ask them to order the one for you. They may already have an account with them.

4 stroke mufflers for Saito
I Norris
Happy to try to help. If you are stuck I know JustEngines can make a custom header for you. Just advise them of the specs. and they can do it. No doubt a good local engineering works could do the same thing for you, and you would save on shipping. It's a fairly straight forward job. I know where you are coming from about the availabilty of OEM and aftermarket headers for Saito's though. Hope you get your problem soved! regards fiery |

Send me a PM . We can make one for you no problem. We have had to make quite a few for various applications. And for sure since you are in the US there are other sources here that can do it as well. :)
Will look for you PM. |

elbow
i have needed a 90 deg. elbow a few times for my saitos and i just bend the stock elbow.......place a bolt the same (or as close) size as the inner diameter of the elbow into a vice. place the elbow over this using the vice to control the depth of the bolt. find another bolt/rod that is as long as you can get for the other end of elbow. just heat the elbow up to a cherry red with your torch and while holding torch on the elbow start bending it -gently with the long rod. don't rush this and remember to leave the nuts on while doing this! keep the nuts at the ends of the pipe also to keep from ditorting the thread while gently bending it. mine usually come out to slightly more then 90 deg. and work fine. oh yeah don't touch it for a bit after ya bend it....may be hot :D -Tinman-

Are the stock elbows/headers stainless steel? Or are they just really hard steel that has been chromed?
I always wondered... I haven't tried but, if a magnet won't stick to it and it is definately not aluminum, then it may very well be stainless. |

Jazzy ; I think you have that a little backwards, A Magnet doesn't stick to Aluminum and will to stainless.

ScorpionJack, No, I had it right. (The wording may have connfused you.) A magnet may stick to very low grade stainless - I'm not entirely sure.
Try going to the hardware store with a magnet in your pocket and see if it'll stick to SS bolts and screws. It won't. Lady flyer, Nice job! I never thought of doing it that way. Is that a brass/bronse threaded insert in an aluminum billet? (I may be soliciting one from you in the future.) Jeff |

Ladyflier, where did you buy that elow??
How much $? Thanks for your help! Benny |
Options for 4 strokes
It is home made. It has an internal chamber milled out to allow for relief of back pressure from the extremely close bend. The milled out area was then covered with a plate welded over the opening.
There is a little more going on there than meets the eye. Inorris needed an elbow to make a 90 Degree turn in less than 7/8 inch . This elbow is 13/16 frm exhaust boss to outside. It would have been too tight for even a mandrel bend with 10 mm OD tubing so we fabricated this Aluminum elbow. We use brass nipples to connect to the head for two reasons. The first is the brass is very easy on aluminum threads the second reason is the brass expands faster when heated and tends to stay tight while running much better than the mild or stainless steel versions. PM me for more details LF |

ladyflyer, wich is the thread of the header (saito)?? where did you find the tap and the brass nipple?
THANKS :D |
Options for 4 strokes
Which Saito are you referring to ?
The 100 is a 12mm x 1.0 thread. I can get any tap or die you need locally.Let me know if you need a source. We turned the nipple from brass round stock. |
