WHICH ENGINE???
Ihave bought a discontinued Great Planes Super Aeromaster. The instructions call for a 2s 60 or 4s 90 to 1.20. My personal preferance is for a 4 stroke. After that I am open to suggestion. I'd like to hear some opinions about which engine would be the best fit for this particular plane.
If the engine is expensive it is something I will just have to save a month or 2 for. So expensive is not out of the question. I have a Magnum 91 4s on a Tiger 60 I have yet to fly, but it is getting close to complete. And break in has seen no problems so far. I would consider the Magnum again but I do not want a blue head. I would prefer chrome. But head color is not a deal buster either. So what do you guys think? |
RE: WHICH ENGINE???
The Thunder Tiger F-91s is a real stump-puller and should balance the Aeromaster nicely. It's available for $184.99 with free shipping at http://www.infinitehobbies.com

RE: WHICH ENGINE???
A 91 four stroke is plenty of power for that plane

RE: WHICH ENGINE???
For pretty and lots of power go with a Satio 1.00 . To keep cost down, buy a Magnum and paint the head with some semi-gloss black header paint or get the buffer out and polish the Magnum valve cover. For the money , my Magnumshave been very good engines, if I had to buy O.S or Saito's for all my planes I wouldn't build near as much.
Another option , would beto look on RCU market place , I havehad great luck buying used enginesthere. I prefer Saitos , but the retailprice makes them hard to afford with the allowance my wife has me on. I have found the sellers on RCU to be great to deal with and have never been burnt. Just a thought ? |
RE: WHICH ENGINE???
The TT .91 has more power than a Saito 1.00 with smaller props. However, I would opt for a 1.2 sized four stroke on an aerobatic plane that can take that size. All of the 1.2 brands are good.

RE: WHICH ENGINE???
ORIGINAL: stevenmax50 I'd like to hear some opinions about which engine would be the best fit for this particular plane. I have no experiience with this particular model but someone who has may be able to help with this information. Otherwise, if possible, when building it, leave the engine fitment as late as possible and determine the balance weight yourself. Let us know what you decide. |
RE: WHICH ENGINE???
There's nothing more tragic than needing lead up front to balance when a bigger engine could do the trick! |
