Help, Engine took a Bath!!!
 

I was driving my T-Maxx yesterday and I lost site of it for a moment. Next thing I knew it was in a creek. The engine finally died I think from H2O in the carb. It could have been that it was blocking the exhaust too but...at any rate, what is the best thing to do to protect the engine? I took the head off and put a ton of after run in the head and in the carb and cranked it for quite a while. Is that sufficient? Should I break down the entire thing?

Run it , the glow fuel will flush it out then give it another dose of after run oil. No use taking it all apart . Could have used WD-40 thats the only thing it's good for ! MAX H.

Completely soaked but everything works fine. I'm getting a balloon for the receiver today.

Think I would open them up & set them in the sun for awhile. Moisture +electronics + electricity (4.8 volts)= trouble (sometimes)? Not as dangerous with a car but you may lose control & hit some little old ladies wheel chair & push her into a creek. Bet she won't float with her little wheels! MAX H.

Don't worry about the engine! I fly during the Winter months, and very often the engine get soaked after eating snow ( the spinner being the most critical part of the landing gear :D ). I just run it and put some after run oil in it after the flying session, and never had a water induced engine problem.

If you want to protect your radio gear, use heat shrink. Remember to put a cut-out for the xtal though.

Believe it or not the best radio protector is a condom. Fits tight and is leakproof. don't get the lubed kind. Colors and ribbed are OK though. The tough part is explaning to your wife what you are going to do with them!
