Greg, Thanks for the info. Ironically, I recently drew my own 1/3 scale plans for the Eastbourne and was debating on which engine to use. I was contemplating the RCS VT50 four stroke up front. Based on that the FA170/200 flew it well, the VT50 should be more than adequate and the extra weight in the nose wouldn't be a bad thing. Love the thread you're doing. Very inspiring! Thanks again, Jerry

Jerry,

Thanks. I was told that the original engine was an older FA-170 R3 model.

Regards.

My 1/3 scale pilot arrived from AH Designs in Wales. Sandra Hawes of AH Designs was such a joy to work with! She was easy to communicate with and very responsive.

I'll need to make some modifications to the pilot and my seat so he can withstand the air blast without falling out.

At a local R/C show last weekend, we flew the Eastbourne along with another Dick Parshall built plane called the [link=http://www.proctor-enterprises.com/products/antics/mono/ant_monoplanes.htm#SPECIFICATIONS]Antic[/link] from Procter Enterprises. The owner, Jim McBride, sent me this photo from a few year's ago flying off water on Canadice Lake.

Since the video was taken, my pilot arrived and I added some right thrust to offset the strong pull to the left from the big prop.

That Antic on water ... delightful.

The Eastbourne isn't too bad, either.

We took a few photos of my pilot chillin' with a Pepsi before the flight. Unfortunately, we never got of the ground due to a spin-out that broke the tail stick. We think one of the wheels was still bent out from a previous rough landing due to the ESC cutting out. I have since replaced the ESC. Another issue may be that the pilot is blanking the rudder authority so we will attempt it again in a few weeks with the pilot removed first.

My three cylinders are almost complete. The bottom two just need the valves added.
