Glad you got your card back! Man, John, i still cant believe how light you built your Jr Falcon. I can't stop thinking about the weight difference in your Jr Falcon & mine. Im seriously thinking of takeing out my full size servos & putting in some mini servos. Just got home from a full scale IAC meet at the airport accross the street from my home & those planes are really light too[:@]....Gene

RE: VRCS Glory Days in Julian NC
I put 5 more flights on it yesterday. More down thrust and raised the trailing edge. Much better now but it still wants to climb some. Carl really designed those things to lift. Without the serious climb you saw, down close to the ground she really looks like a pylon racer. It will do continous loops. Also flew my electric Pageboy yesterday and stuffed it. The wing popped off. Held on by a magnet. Obviously not strong enough. Not much damage and the wing just fluttered down, so no damage to it.

Well, since some folks are still reading this thread, I will submit a question for comments. I have been looking for a large old-timer, but have not been able to find one for sale, so I am looking at plans and kits (or short kits). Bob Holman has a bunch of offerings, as do several others. My idea is for something in the range of 84-108" span, cabin type model (not a pylon), and a floater that will thermal well. Some options are Buzzard Bombshell, Airborn, Dallaire, Buchaneer, Playboy or similar.
Anyone have any experience or suggestions ?
Thanks, Louie

Thanks ! What size was the BB? I have a friend here who brought one to the Vintage event a few weeks ago. It is the BH version, but I have not been able to find any short kits larger than 72". I will be making it electric, and will try to keep the tail structure as light as possible to keep the overall weight down. While I could enlarge the plans, I'd like to find at least a short kit.
Can you post a link to your build?

Wow, and you call yourself a slow builder? That went pretty well. I need to consider what to do next. I think the BB's slab sided fuse will be better for me, no mass of stick-trusswork like some designs. I am OK with undercambered wing build. I have considered that a RC version of an old timer is much more stressed than a FF would be, and the wing center section, cabin top wing mount and other areas need to be pretty strong in order not to fold.
