Joe, while I've moved to mostly bigger stuff, the small Das Box Fly holds an endeared place in the fleet. With no N struts it is easy to set up for a biplane and there are electric planes that make as much noise as the Saito .30.
When building it, I received several comments about how well they fly but how difficult the takeoff runs were... but fortunately this one tracks great on take offs. And, though it is small, because of the light loading and slower speed of a higher drag biplane, it can be flown in a football field area.... so small doesn't matter.

Joe... amazing weight for the span and motors. Power to weight of electric can't be matched nor can the reliability on a multi such as that. I designed and built a 96" sport model a couple of years ago powered by 35cc gas and it weighs yours plus ten.

Doug,the information you provide is priceless.I have heard,but not read many things about World Engines.I tried to search more about the product range.You are right about their radio range!
The only product I have from WE is a kit named ROBINHOOD-25.
You are also right about MK kits.They were of similar quality to PILOT series.I hava a few MK kits and intend to build a couple of them in the future.By the way,the initials MK stand for M. Kato?

I fly off of water only for the last 15 years and always wanted a Pilot lake buccaneer .I missed one on rcg not long ago but realy i just need the plans for one. My seaplane plans were from Ivan petigrue and i am building his twin otter plane now with a 84 inchwingspan . If i dont make a mess with the glue i hope to keep it at 6 pounds with the batterys. thalis 69 When i downloaded mine they scaled out correct but i have a program that lets me make them bigger or smaller and tile them if i want. I cant figure out why yours are comming out funny. joe

I loved the Pilot Kits. I used to go to Hobby Shack just to look at all the different kits they carried.
My very first RC plane was the QB-15 with an OS Max 15. Right after building it i watched someone expertly fly a Pilot FW-190A Wanted one ever since. Interestingly he covered it in a yellow type of camo. Just beautiful.
Any body have a pdf of the Pilot FW190a plan? Would love a copy.

Sotiris may be interested in your plans. When I listed the Pilot kits myself, I concentrated on the ARF's and nothing else. And.....would you believe I have uncovered even MORE Pilot ARF's now?? Pilot may have produced just too many of them if you ask me.

I have the plans for the box fly and it is on my lighten up and make it bigger electrict build list. Even tho i went electrict i still fly big birds ,my short solent seaplane is 100 inch wingspan and flys very scale like on electrict at only 7 pounds. I cant fly this on short fields but i cant miss the runway on the lake.lol joe

You mentioned Indy R/C in a previous post,regarding WORLD ENGINES.I remember visiting the premises of Indy R/C back in 1999,when I visited USA for the first time.
Two distinctive things come into my mind:the LION arf series and ASP-GMS-Tartan engines they were promoting by ISC International,probably a sister company.
LION arfs had the same covering as EZ arfs had.I don't know if OK MODEL CO has a relation to these series,or the new engines cack then had to do with WORLD ENGINES.
I spent 2 hours! inside that store and I was so disappointed when in a visit in 2001 I found it closed
(HORIZON had bought the company).
The certain conclusion is that each company and many individuals have added something to our hobby.Personally,I try to watch the new trends and products the industry has to offer.
For example,the 2.4 radios or even the boom in electric arfs certainly have something positive to present and they have come to stay.But I also feel that there is a missing link that
a fellow true modeler understands when he or she has to fix a broken fuse or wing for example.
Three more kits are presented today from the main list.TWIN ACE and SUPRA series.The late are from catalogue #20.

The photo is a SKY LOOP 404,built from plans and copied parts of a kit I have.I trully enjoyed all the construction phases,but ,still, she is waiting for her maiden flight.
By the way and although this is a thread about PILOT kits,I need an advice.I am building a kit by STERLING "THE WIZARD".I want to decrease the wings's dihedral,but
what I found is only general remarks and not specific information.
Doug,is it true that the PILOT plastic arfs had a tendency to present a few cracks over time?
This week I will post the PILOT's Hit Kit Series images from the main list,but also a couple of photos of crashed (PILOT)planes from my "wonder years"!

I do not have any solid experience from using the all plastic Pilot ARF's, but if I may use the EZ Super Box Fly .40 or the Super Box Fly .10 as a references.....yes, the plastic did indeed age and got VERY brittle over time. So much so that it seemed you could not do anything with it. Assuming a similar plastic was used in the Pilot ARF's I'd guess the same thing would happen. So yes......cracks and/or splits would probably appear on the older and perhaps also untouched kits.

I was close to aquire two PILOT plastic arfs,CHEROKEE and TRYSTAR on e-bay a couple of years ago.Since then,I have read many negatives on their durability over time.The flight characteristics were very good,at least from the remarks I have heard about them.
