Hello everyone.
Two more images will be posted today, plus one from my "crashing" past!

The crashed little plane is a QB10H.This kit was my first "BIG" project back in the good old days, but not the one that I learnt to solo.
If someone has a kit that has not been posted or listed, please send the name and details,if possible.
Good day to all,
Socrates

The fourth add in post #10 has 2 of my planes in it. I have the Pilot Baby powered by a Golden Bee and the Supra Fly. Except mines the 45 and not the 25.
Is neat to see these in print from before I flew RC.

1320Fastback,thank you for your help. Both PILOT BABY and SUPRA FLY 25 are shown in the lists, but not the SUPRA FLY 45.
Could you please post the wing span?I assume that the engine size is 0.45.
I suppose,nobody could see the QB10H and QB10L photos...

Hava a nice day,

Hello everyone.
I am sorry for not been able to respond earlier, but personal and family responsibilities demand attention that leaves no
time for surfing and hobbies.
Wolfgang,I just read your message.I really have to check on my files to see what I can get. Please, have some patience with me,as this period is very busy for me.
I will post a few images from the main PILOT kits list, just to get back on track.

The similarities between QB15H and QB20H are obvious. You can also see my QB20L,built from plans.I reserved the original kit,as I do with many old kits I have.
Have a nice week,
Regards,
Socrates

"I measured my 45 and its wingspan is 59 1/2 to 60" and mine is powered by a OS .61FSR"
1320Fastback,thank you for your contribution.Your plane is an excellent example of an EZ kit.She is just a beauty and a real collectable plane indeed!

Anyone have the J-3 plans ( 1.4 m wingspan )? I need a wing plan, or at least enough details to draw my own plan. You know, things like rib thickness, spacing, spar sizes, aileron dimensions, etc, dihedral angle, etc...even just a half decent picture of the plan?

I just sent a full set of scans to Steve at outerzone, he should have them up in a day or two.
They are exactly what you are looking for, and includes the instructions and parts sheets.
I will update this post with a link when they appear.
And here they are:

Hello everyone.
After quite sometime,I am back with the posts about Pilot kits.
I will continue with the next three models from the main list:QB 40S,QB 60MONSTER and QB 40T CENTURION.
Centurion was the trainer that I learnt to solo with.I still have this plane, survivng all these "smooth landings".

Wolfgang, are you still interested in Sky Loop parts?
Wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

Socrates

Hello everyone.
I really have to apologize for my absence all this time.
What I can promise though,is that I will finish the presentation of all Pilot kits that are in the catalogues I have PLUS a few EZ kits from a catalogue I found in a box, that was forgotten.
The kits that follow in the list are the QB25(three versions H-L-S),LOADSTAR and the famous flying boat LAKE BUCCANEER 20.

I have a thought that I would like to share with all you Pilot fans. Why not start a Pilot brotherhood?
Take care and talk to you soon

Tasos,
Good to see you here.I hope you enjoyed QB20H's restoration.
You have many Pilot kits,as Joe said and many are ARFs,a rare find indeed!(Doug where are you?
)
There are many Pilot kit maniacs out there.Personally I believe that these kits deserve a place in RC history.
We can all share here our experiences and learn from building and flying Pilot kits, all sort of kits, from trainer to scale.
Take care

Hi Tasos.
Thank you for your contribution.Do you know if the QB15H was restored as a 3-channel plane?I can not see ailerons, correct me if I am wrong.I have the same kit partly built by my brother, left over for decades and I intend to finish it.I plan to install ailerons and was looking
for your comments.
Thank you anyway.By the way,I have been visited Thessaloniki twice...a wonderfull city with good food and beautyfull women!
I have three more kit to present for the Pilot catalogue I have:Aeronca Champion,Cessna-177 20 and Akromaster-20.

Have a nice weekend and smooth landings

I really liked the Pilot line of kits and ARFs. My first was a Cavalier in the early 70s one of the best flying ARFs ever made. Fiberglass fuselage and built up wing and tail with mechanical retracts. Had three of them and still have a fuselage stashed in the pile. My friend was purchasing manager for Hobby Shack for over 20 years. I built a lot of their display models and ended up building most of the Pilot line of kits. I built and flew several including the 1/4 scale Jungman, 1/4 scale Decathalon and PT-19. Had a lot of EZ ARFs. Mike had me build a Pilot Pitts S2 .40 one time as they had some complaints about flying qualities. He wanted to display it in the store after we flew it and wanted it covered in clear Monocoat. Even with the red sunburst design and stripes that airplane was really hard to see in flight. Put about three flights on it and as far as I know it is still hanging in one of the stores. Flew great by the way but was not a beginners airplane. Don

Some of the Pilot kits could be tricky. That excellent parts fit so typical for a Pilot kit could really fool you sometimes. My own experience is that you had to keep tabs on the wing incidence. If you did not, there would be a definite risk you would end up with waaaaay too much positive incidence. Like 5-6 degrees or even more. Those that built a pilot kit and never checked the wing incidence could be facing a very nasty surprise. One of the worst of these wing incidence culprits would be the .20 size Spinks Acromaster. A thin wing, a sharp leading edge combined with several degrees A of A does not a good combination make. Other ornery contraptions were the .40 "Kwik Built" De Havilland Super Chipmunk and the Jr. Box Fly. Same problem with both- excessive wing incidence. When it comes to a Pitts it had better be built right or else....
Bottom line is that these complaining customers may well have been right......sort of. Their mistake could have been they blindly trusted the parts fit, a mistake that was very easy to do.
