Octoberfest is a great time run by fine people. I doubt that I'll be able to go, but I will if at all possible.

So far, the Weather Channel is reporting Saturday's (Oct. 8) weather as sunny, 70° and winds out of the north <10 mph. Sunday (Oct. 9) is to be partly cloudy, 66°, winds out of the NW at 16 mph. Things are looking good.

However, there may be an uninvited guest named Matthew. Stay tuned.

We're watching closely what Hurricane Matthew will be doing by Saturday. So far, we have a good prospect of holding the event and will try to get everything in on Saturday while Sunday looks questionable on the winds aloft. NOAA weather maps look good Saturday morning with the wind speeds picking up later in the afternoon. I hope to accomplish at least three rounds of pattern but will cut it back as necessary. The other events will go on as planned. I'll shoot for making a definite call on Thursday regarding the weather which should be ample time to either go forward with or change your travel plans.

Watch this space for future updates.

Octoberfest is on! Here's the forecast from NOAA.

Saturday
Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Local weather says the rain showers will occur mainly over the New Jersey coast while there will be some activity to the west of Lancaster, PA. We should see little affect except for an occasional spritz.

Sunday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 66.

Don't forget, if you are going to the Saturday night dinner at the Wellwood, I need to know how many people for the reservation.

I'll be at Johnson Field on Friday so if anyone wants to fly, you are more than welcome to join in. See you in Oxford.
