Default Muffler for Webra blackhead .61

Looking for a muffler for Webra Blackhead 61..Getting back into the hobby after a 32 year hiatus. have the engines, and seem to remember there were some strap on mufflers available back then. Would also consider any other option.. Thanks for reading and have a great day.

Hutch, The solution to your question is simple, and it does not involve a strap on muffler, but one that bolts right up. Purchase the muffler for a K & B 61 engine. The muffler part number is 8251. I believe they can be purchased from RJL who now supports the K & B line of engines. Have a good day. JK

The K&B isn't even close. However the HP Gold Cup is the same. Check out Macs Muffler.

Hutch,

Bisson makes a great strap-on muffler. Works well on my old Speed 61.

Cheers,

Andre

Hutch, If you have any doubts that the K & B 61 muffler does not fit the Webra Blackhead 61 send me a message and I will send via private e-mail or landmail pictures of my Blackhead 61 with a K & B muffler and show that it bolts right up, no adjustments needed. This advice came from Clarence Lee years ago. Sincerely, JK

Mac's has a one-piece tuned muffler and adapter plate for the Webra. These are pretty neat mufflers.

Hutch,

I have a Webra .61 that needs a muffler too.

This is the loop-scavenged, baffled-piston early version, not the later "Speed" .61

Hi Dan.. I am told that the K & B 61 muffler will work on the Blackhead.. I purchased one on Ebay for $12.50. brand new never on an engine. I'll give it a try when i get it and let you know. I have the same engine as you. There is another muffler from the same person on Ebay right now.. just do search under K & B 61 to find it, if you are interested.

Take care and have a good day..

This guy supplied me with a muffler for my Blackhead.
http://paulsmodelsupply.com/

What he has in stock is made by Webra although it's not as pretty as the original.
Having said that, like the original, it's quiet, light, and provides enough pressure for your tank.

Paul's also a good source for glow plugs with idle bars. I can't get them locally.

The Webra Blackhead uses the same muffler as the HB 40-61, K&B 61 & .65 Sportster, Super Tigre .45 & 60BB along with the current Webra muffler for the Silverline .61 I happen to know this as I have all the above and have interchanged mufflers back and forth. The only change is that some use a #5 bolt that need to have the mounting holes enlarged to accept a #6 bolt, as I have done for mine.

A Pitts muffler is offered by Slimline and Bisson( BCM)and Davis Diesel(DDD)bolt on and there are a couple of strap on types as well.

Regards,
turbo

Dan,
I run 2 of these engines. I also fly at a feild with strict noise policies. I bought the universal .60 size strap on muffler from Bisson. I enlarged the original holes in the engine for the muffler mount to accept a 6-32 screw. Then i strapped the muffler on and drilled it and tapped it to bolt right on the Webra and removed the strap. it's been working great since. Puts out 74 - 78 decibels but diesn't look very nice

Hello all.

Why not simply contact WEBRA - there must an importer in your country.

WEBRA is still in business - alive and kicking.

I have an old Webra blackhead .61 in the box. It's an unknown engine to me.

Thanks for the info on the muffler for it. I'm going to need one for this one too.

How was this engine on power output? Compared to todays engines?

I'm thinking about putting it on an Aeromaster Too I'm working on. Is this old engine enough, or forget it an get a more modern .61? Thinking about using a 13x6 prop. Will it swing it?

Thanks in advance
NI
