There have been some neat models of the Pietenpol Air Camper or Scout published. probably in
RCM, that make nifty scale-ish flyers on that kind of low power. Flies like an old timer. Come to think of it, the Piet IS an old timer! Or something by Randy Randolph or Owen Kampen.

Ha! I was just breaking in an OS FP .15 yesterday that's been NIB since I bought it five years ago. And, I'm looking for a project for it, too.
In fact, today I was looking at the construction article for a little Taylor Cub by Jim Coveney in the August 1996 MA. All built up fuse and tail (no sheet). Appears to have scale rib spacing with false ribs in the bays. Author used an FP .20, but states a .15 would also be perfect. Taylor cubs also lend themselves to a greater variety of color schemes than Pipers, AFAIK.
If you have that issue, look it up. I'm thinking I'll order the plans.

Looks like it's plan #815 for $11.25 from Model Aviation. That's really cute! It would be really neat with one of the old OS 20 four strokes, too.

You can actually view and print out the original construction article from the 8/96 issue. You can order the plans by phone at (765) 287-1256, ext. 507. As kdheath said, it's plan #815, $11.25.
Yes, it would be great with the FS .20. Hmm... maybe I can enlarge it for my old FS .40.

I will try to attach a picture. It will actually fly on a 10 but the old steel fin max is ideally suited to this 3 channel version of the free flight classic.
If you like the look of it let me know I have the build article as well I think[8D]

I'm in the process o f rebuilding NC 2414 after it was wrecked in a nasty accident at Oshkosh in 89. It's a 1933 Taylor E2. I would like to make an RC model of it sometime. Larry

Hi P-47;
Greetings of the Season to you and yours from the sunny and warm 'Valley of the Sun'.
My suggestions for an airframe companion for your OS 15 would be the late Hal deBolts' semi scale Live WIre CHampion or LW Cub designs, followed up with his wonderful LW Reble.
I have built several Champs, powered with ST 15s, and they are just about the sweetest flying airplanes I have ever flown, and are easy to build also.
My 2 cents worth, good luck on your OS 15 Project, [let us know your choice, & how it works out], best regards from Phoenix,
Joe Nagy.

If you want something that you can run around in the parking lot as well as fly, here is a .15 powered one of a kind.

Hello Gremlin Castle,
Wow, what a neat and unique model air- ...... uh, car-plane?! Please tell us all about it? Size, wing span and area, what engine for power, what Car are you using (maybe a plastic model?) ...... is most of the radio gear mounted in the car, are the front wheels of the car steerable, etc., etc.? Very Interesting, I might need something like this ...... THANKS!

RE: need ideas for a .0.S. 15 MAX ENGINE
It was built using a stripped Stuart Little RC car from RadioShack.
I had intended to do this several years back as a project for the Little Rock SMALL event. Randy Randolph always liked to see what I would bring each year but unfortunately passed away before he saw this one.
The car was gutted and the chassis was stripped of everything but the steering which is a standard Futaba 148 servo which also acts as part of the balance weight. The battery pack also rides forward as does the receiver. The rest of the servos are in the airframe and are Hitec or GWS HS-80 size.
The outer wing panels and the horizontal stabilizer are copied from a Sig Rascal-C. The center section is 12" in span and accepts the plug in outer panels for a total span of 59".
Power is a Fox 15BB swinging a 8x6 pusher prop and burning 15%Omega pink fuel. It was originally flown as a three channel but now has ailerons. The underslung weight of the car body resisted the rudder ability to yaw the wings into a strong bank. The turns were more like side slips.
It was and is a novelty plane and nothing more. It is just another example of doing something because you can.
There was some coverage of it in the October 05 Flying Models.

RE: need ideas for a .0.S. 15 MAX ENGINE
Thanks Gremlin Castle,
I have always liked something out of the ordinary rut, especially Pusher and Canard designs (your's is Pusher anyhow, and Canard too in a way when you consider the 'out-front wheels' steer it on the ground <grin>). I will have to dig up my October '05 Flying Models and see what I missed ..... I don't remember a thing about it? Thanks again for the super description of your most Unique Model!
