1966 RCM Magazine Article
Anyone hoard old RCM magazines have a copy of an article in one of the 1966 issues on how to add a coil to the receiver antenna of single channel radios for doubling the range? I don't know what month it is, but I was told it is in a 1966 issue.

I don't go back that far with RCM, but if all else fails, contact Rich Legrange at the AMA Museum/library. He can run it down for you and provide a copy of the article for a very nominal sum. I had him find something for me and I think it was $2 to look it up, copy it and mail it to me.

I won;t claim to be an expert on this, but the receivers back in 1966 are completely different than those today. It was a wonder we could fly back then. There were all sorts of tricks back then to entend range....some worked, some did not, but I think a good receiver now will perform really good and pretty much go as far as one can see the airplane. I had super regen receivers back then that were pretty bad. One had to tune the receiver to the transmitter back then. Now they are both....receiver and transmitter tuned to a standard.

you are right Bob
they were on 27 MZ but the antenna theory explained is excellent
recent quality receivers would not profit much and the cheaper ones are not worth the bother with the bergs and FMA and sombra labs for the small stuff with full range and signal recognition
I flew regens also ( what a pain ) good old days ???
