Default Looking for plans

I am looking for a set of plans of a model I built in 1947. The model is the Flamingo. As I remember it, it is an amphibian with 6 foot wing span with the engine on a pylon on top of the wing.
Does anyone remember this model or were I can get the plans?

I'm not sure if this is the Flamingo you're looking for, but the AMA plans service (Pond collection) has a 72" one from 1946. Problem is they're asking $47 for the plans! Yikes!

Thank you for the information. I will give it a look. For $47 dollare I may draw the plans myself from memory.

Was the Famingo always a large W/S model?

I have set of plans for the Amphib dated around 1955, smaller wingspan, and is on controlline too.

The Flamingo that I remember was about 6 foot wingspan and was in the Zaic yearbook. That plan can be obtained from John Norththrop form the model builder collection for considerably less the $47.00.

Joe-

I found this Capitol Model Aircraft ad in July, 1946, M.A.N. & thought you might like to see it (assuming I'm able to attach it here). Holler if you want a larger version emailed.

Well, shucks, the image didn't come thru. I uploaded it while writing my post, but that didn't seem to make it an attachment to my post. If anybody wants to see the ad, please tell me how to attach it to a post.

Dave, if you can figure out how to send the picture I would very much like to see it.
However after speaking to John at the AMA's plan service I have decided to purchase the plans for the Flamingo. $47 dollars, ug.
I will have to change the design to add movable control surfaces and other such up to date features. I do not expect the plans till the end of next week as John said the 5 sheets do take time to organize and print.
Thanks for the great support.

Okay, I tried again. I did just like Dave B. said, which, I'm pretty sure, is exactly what I did earlier. It even replied that the file uploaded successfully. Oops, I just remembered - last time I didn't lift my left leg when I clicked the download button;-)

In case this still doesn't work, I've also put the ad (small version) on my website at:

Don't you just love the prices of the kits from yesteryear. $9.95 was a weeks rent in the late 40's. It took me about 4 weeks of cutting lawns before I had enough money to buy an O&R .23 at my local Hobby shop. Ahhhh the memorys.

Dave, fantastic. That is the plane I built in 1947. Aaaah the good old days. As I said I ordered the plans for $47 dollars. We could have bought 4 planes for that price in 47.
I will let you know how the plane looks as I build.
Thanks again.
